Solids & Theo Verney to play Hare & Hounds

Solids
It’s Just Noise are teaming up with Birmingham Promoters to bring Montreal guitar and drum duo Solids to Birmingham, following the recent release of their debut album Blame Confusion via Fat Possum. The two-piece will call at Birmingham’s Hare & Hounds on Wed 7th May 2014.

Formed by Xavier Germain-Poitras (guitar) and Louis Guillemette (drums), Solids has been built on the premise that melody never shines as much as when it is forced to fight its way through many layers of distortion and feedback. Influenced by bands from the 90s, like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Superchunk, their first EP released in 2010, Generic Dogs, united fans of chaotic choruses under the banner of their intense rock, and won them an esteemed slot at SXSW.

Joining them on the tour with be 22 year old Brightonian Theo Verney, bringing his fuzzed-up angsty garage-psych along with him. Theo’s second EP Heavy Sunn was released via Hate Hate Hate Records last October – home of fellow garage rock newcomers Fat White Family and The Wytches. A scuzzy heady mix of grunge and psychedelic rock; paying dues to his heroes Hendrix, Beefheart and Black Sabbath. Theo has also clocked up support slots with the likes of Parquet Courts, Drenge, Traams and Crocodiles along the way.
