2009

So, we’ve called it a day pretty early for 2009. Last two shows were great: ZU were absolutely awesome and it was brilliant to see such a good turn out – The Rainbow’s courtyard was totally at capacity at one point! Likewise, Animal Hospital was totally enchanting, and we hope we can get him back over soon!

This last run of shows (including the mighty Part Chimp) have kinda taken it out of me, so I’m taking a break for the rest of the year. We’ll be back at the end of Jan/Feb time, with loaaaads of shows in the pipeline. However, don’t fret too much, as Capsule are currently celebrating their 10th birthday, and have 10 excellent shows over December to keep you occupied (you’ve missed two already – Monotonix last night who gave a belter of a performance as usual, and Tunng/Six Organs of Admittance this evening which we unfortunately also missed out on) so make sure you get yourself down to as many of those as possible. Plus, December also sees the return of other quality local promoters This is Tomorrow, as well as Chicks Dig Jerks 7th birthday, and Birmingham Promoters have some terrific gigs lined up as well so check all of those out too.

It’s been a wicked year for It’s Just Noise, which has seen some outstanding performances from Pneu, Shield Your Eyes, Experimental Dental School, Joan of Arc, Holy Mountain, Kong, Chickenhawk, Maths, and the aforementioned Part Chimp, ZU, and Animal Hospital. Not forgetting the many local bands that have played for us, to whom we are ALWAYS grateful! Absolutely massive huge gigantic thanks to everyone that’s played, and especially anyone that’s come to any of our shows – I can’t even convey how much we appreciate it.

First show announcement for the new year is the very welcome return of our favourite French noise rock/pop-ers Marvin in May. Anyone who saw them last time can testify to their incredible live performances, so don’t miss that one. Details on the ‘Upcoming Shows’ tab at the top of the page.

Lots more 2010 shows to be announced in the run up to Christmas so keep checking back…

Have a great Xmas & New Year and BIG thanks again for your continued support!
Cheers,
It’s Just Noise

PART CHIMP and other news

Here’s a quick summary of what we have coming up over the next couple of months:

Firstly, next Thursday we are incredibly excited to be bringing you the insanely awesome PART CHIMP! Expect brain shakingly loud noise rock for fans of everyone from Black Sabbath and MC5 to TAD, Sonic Youth, The Melvins and Harvey Milk. Catch them playing with STINKY WIZZLETEAT and MOTHERTRUCKER at The Rainbow on 24th September. Buying a ticket is advisable, and they’re available from: WeGotTickets or TheTicketSellers

This is very swiftly followed by what is shaping up to be one of our biggest ever shows: Fri 2nd October sees the mighty ZU return to Birmingham! Words cannot convey how excited I am about this show. The line up is completed by a welcome return from locals BEESTUNG LIPS, plus a debut show from DAS BASTARD (featuring ex Untitled Musical Project members). Oh my goodness. If you haven’t already got a ticket for this, you really need one:
WeGotTickets or TheTicketSellers

Two weeks later we see the return of Danish lovelies MIMAS, this time at The Flapper and supported by SHAPES. Then, on the 4th November we give you Boston’s amazing one man band ANIMAL HOSPITAL, also at The Flapper. We are too kind.

There’s loads of other great shows happening in Brum over the next few months, so please do check out: Capsule, Chick’s Dig Jerks, Heat & Light and Birmingham Promoters to see what shows they have coming up.

New Shows: Maths/ZU/Beestung Lips/Mimas/Shapes

Greetings!

Three new awesome shows for you:

First up we have intense experimental screamo band Maths playing at The Flapper on Thurs 3rd September. This band are incredible live, so this show is not to be missed, plus you get the bonus of Amanita Verna, Stinky Wizzleteat and Death of Thieves who are the supports for the evening. Check out the Facebook Event for more info.

Next we have a very special show, and probably one of the biggest we ever done. This comes in the shape of an amazing Italian band on Mike Patton’s Ipecac label – the incredible ZU! Anybody who saw them at Supersonic should be instantly wetting themselves at this announcement. Not only that, but this show will also see the triumphant return of locals Beestung Lips, which guarantees to be a major event in itself! Catch them both at The Rainbow on Fri 2nd Oct. Tickets have just gone on sale at WeGotTickets and TheTicketSellers so make sure you don’t miss out and grab one now.

Finally, we also see the return of those wonderful Danish chaps Mimas at The Flapper on Wed 14th Oct. They were excellent the last time we put them on, so to have them back is a real treat. Support comes from awesome local noiseniks Shapes, and some other very special guests to be announced shortly.

Loads more shows on the horizon, so keep checking back and keep an eye on our Facebook Group for more info.

SAVE THE RAINBOW

Big big BIG thanks to everyone who came along to the Joan of Arc show. It was a great night, and we really appreciate everyone who made the effort to come along. All the bands were awesome and we hope everyone enjoyed them as much as we did.

But now, some important news. Our beloved local venue The Rainbow is under threat. If you came to the JOA show, or if in fact you care about live music/independent venues at all, then please get involved and help save what is one of the finest venues in the Midlands.

In short: one nearby resident has declared the venue a ‘noise nuisance’, and as a result The Rainbow has been served with a noise abatement order, which could ultimately mean its closure.

Read the whole story and find out how you can help save The Rainbow at this Facebook Group.

For those of you not on Facebook, you can come down to the pub on Fri 19th June at 6pm to get the full story as well as The Rainbow’s response to the noise abatement order. I think this is going to turn into a protest of sorts, so please come along and show your support!
